JOYPURHAT, Nov 14, 2022 (BSS) - A court here today sentenced four people to life-term imprisonment for killing a child in Khetlal upazila of the district in 2008.

Jaipurhat district and sessions judge Md Noor Islam delivered the verdict today.

The court also fined them Tk 50,000 each, in default, to suffer two years more rigorous imprisonment in jail.

The convicts are - Bablu, Aminul Islam, Abdul Hamid and Kajal Hossain, residents of Suryaban village of Khetlal upazila of the district.

According to the prosecution, the accused strangled minor boy Tanveer and threw him to a pond on the west side of the house Suryaban village over a land dispute and later the body was recovered from the pond.

Victim's father Obaidul Rahman filed a murder case with Khetlal police station against five people.

Later, police submitted a charge-sheet against four people.
