Country sees significant progress in health sector: Khaleque

KHULNA, Nov 14, 2022 (BSS) - Mayor of Khulna City Corporation (KCC) Talukder Abdul Khaleque said the country has witnessed a significant progress in health sector as the incumbent government has taken numerous ventures in the last 13 years to upgrade the healthcare system.

"The government has tremendously thrived to deal with the Coronavirus pandemic as over 90 percent citizens have been brought under inoculation coverage to save them from the Covid-19 infection," he said today while addressing a rally on the Khulna Diabetic Association premises marking the World Diabetes Day.

Diabetes can be controlled if a patient follows prescription of physician in addition to takes foods and medicine as it should be, he said, adding everybody should be acquainted with harmful effect of diabetes along with following different preventive steps to get rid of diabetes.

Requesting to stay away from junk foods, fat, edible oil mixed high protein and carbohydrate, the mayor suggested everybody to do regular physical exercise to make them free from the disease.

Chaired by convener of Khulna Diabetic Association Mizanur Rahman Mizan, the discussion was addressed, among others, by chief medical officer of the Diabetic Association Dr Dinobandhu Mondal, Diabetes expert Dr Md Abdus Sabur, convener of the Diabetes Day Udjapon Committee Mofidul Islam Tutul.
