Programmes taken to celebrate Victory Day in Khulna

 
KHULNA, Nov 17, 2022 (BSS) - Khulna district administration has taken various programmes to celebrate the Victory Day on December 16.

The programmes were taken at a preparatory meeting held at the conference room of deputy commissioner today with DC Md Moniruzzaman Talukder in the chair.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Md Sadikur Rahman Khan, Additional Police Super Md hafizur Rahman and Freedom Fighter Alamgir Kabir, among others, addressed the meeting.

Local elites, officials, educationists, journalists, political and cultural activists of the city attended the meeting.

The programmes of the day will begin with gun salute to be held at
Metropolitan Police Lines at Boyra in the city.

Other programmes include hoisting of the national flag atop all public and private buildings and placing wreaths at Gallamari Martyred Memorial in the city.

Khulna Shishu Academy will organize an art and painting competition for
children on the occasion. Sports competition for women will held at Pioneer Secondary Girls School while display of rare pictures on Liberation War and books will be held at Umesh Chandra Public Library.

A discussion meeting will be held at Shaheed Hadis Park followed by a cultural programme. A reception programme to the freedom fighters and children of Shaheed freedom fighters will be held at the conference room of the deputy commissioner.

Special prayers will be offered at mosques, temples, churches and other
religious institutions, seeking divine blessings for peace and progress of the country. Improved diet will be served at all hospitals, orphanage centers and jails to mark the day.

Bangladesh Betar, Khulna, will broadcast special programmes while local newspapers will publish special supplements highlighting the importance of the day.

A discussion on Bir Shreshtha Ruhul Amin's contributions to Liberation War will be held in Rupsha Ghat area on December 17 next.
