CHATTOGRAM, November 22, 2022 (BSS): The National Directorate of Consumer Rights Protection (NDCRP) in a drive today seized about 500 bags of sugar, stored illegally at a warehouse in city’s Barapol area.
NDCRP Assistant Director Anishur Rahman said this sugar weighing 29 tons bought at TK 90 per kg and it was being sold at TK 105 on Tuesday.
The sugars were bought long ago but did not supply the sugars from S Alam factory, S Alam authorities’ sources said.
S Alam authorities also said that they have not redeemed the sugars even though they bought it long ago.
They bought the sugar at a low price and selling at a high price, the sources added.
Accordingly, the actual price of the sugar per KG was TK 90 but their vouchers showed that they were selling it at Tk 105 per kg.
The government, however, fixed the price of per KG sugar at Tk 102 on November 18.
Necessary lawful measures were taken about the sugar.
