RANGPUR, Aug 5, 2021 (BSS) - Rangpur division recorded 28.45
percent Covid-19 positivity rate as 97 fresh cases were reported after
testing 341 newly collected samples of all eight districts in the
division today.
"The Covid-19 positivity rate is showing a mostly steady trend and
remaining around the 30 percent mark in recent days in the division,"
Focal Person of Covid-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur
division Dr ZA Siddiqui told BSS tonight.
Earlier, the daily positivity rates were 30.44 percent on Wednesday,
32.07 percent on Tuesday, 28.65 percent on Monday, 29.75 percent on
Sunday, 30.31 percent on Saturday and 26.36 percent on Friday last in
the division.
Among the 97 new patients, 58 were reported positive after
diagnosing 153 newly collected samples at the Covid-19 Laboratory at
Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) in Rangpur city at the highest ever
daily positivity rate of 37.91 percent today.
"The 58 new patients include 27 from Rangpur, 12 from Kurigram, 11
from Gaibandha and eight from Lalmonirhat districts," Principal of
RpMC Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnobi Lyzu told BSS at 8:35 pm.
On the other hand, 39 new patients were reported after diagnosing
188 samples at the Covid-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical
College (MARMC) in Dinajpur at the daily positivity rate of 20.74
percent today.
"The 39 new Covid-19 infected patients include 30 from Dinajpur,
five from Thakurgaon, one from Nilphamari and three from Panchagarh
districts," Principal of MARMC Professor Dr. Syed Nazir Hossain said.
Talking to BSS, Divisional Director (Health) Dr Md Motaharul Islam
said the number of Covid-19 patients climbed to 47,085 as 97 new
positive cases were reported today from across the division.
The district-wise break up of 47,085 infected patients stands at
10,537 in Rangpur, 2,975 in Panchagarh, 3,848 in Nilphamari, 2,356 in
Lalmonirhat, 3,860 in Kurigram, 6,381 in Thakurgaon, 13,082 in
Dinajpur and 4,046 in Gaibandha of the division.
