CHATTOGRAM, Jan 16, 2025 (BSS)—Riding on a belligerent century of Graham Clark, Chittagong Kings cruised to a 45-run victory over Khulna Tigers to continue their winning wheel in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium here today.
English recruit Graham Clark became the sixth batter in this season to hit a century and before being dismissed, he hammered 50 ball-101 with seven fours and six sixes.
His knock helped the side put on a respectable 200-7, a total that proved to be too hot to handle for Khulna which eventually were held back to 155-9.
Khulna now lost four straight matches after winning first two. This was however Chittagong’s fourth victory in fifth game.
Opener Parvez Hossain Emon made next-best 29 ball-39 to play a second fiddle to Clark.
Inform Usman Khan was out for just 10 as Chittagong made a shaky start after being sent to bat first. But Clark and Emon put on 128-run for the second wicket to bring the side back into the contest.
The partnership was broken when Mohammad Nawaz got the better of Emon. However, Chattogram looked to go past 200 with ease at this point.
Khulna came back into the game strongly after Salman Irshad dismissed Clark just after he reached his second century in T20s. After Clarke’s dismissal, Chattogram could add 32 runs in the last four overs to reach 200-run mark with some hardship.
Two Pakistan recruits Salman Irshad and Mohammad Nawaz scalped three wickets apiece.
Khulna’s meek surrender was confirmed when they were reduced to 42-3, losing the likes of Naim Sheikh, Dom Sibley and captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz who was the only from top three to reach double digits.
The middle order couldn’t stand tall with Afif Hossain and Darwish Rasooli failing to convert their start to big one.
Rasooli top-scored with 37 while Afif was out for 20.
Mohammad Nawaz later added 25 only to reduce the margin of the defeat.
