PARIS, May 6, 2024 (BSS/AFP) - Chinese President Xi Jinping on Monday denied there was any problem of Chinese overcapacity in global trade at talks in Paris, where French President Emmanuel Macron and EU Commission president Ursula von der Leyen urged Beijing to play by the rules.
"The so-called 'problem of China's overcapacity' does not exist either from the perspective of comparative advantage or in light of global demand," the Chinese foreign ministry quoted Xi as saying during the talks, adding China and Europe should address differences on trade through "dialogue and consultation, and accommodate each other's legitimate concerns".
