TALLAHASSEE, United States, Sept 27, 2024 (BSS/AFP) - Helene weakened to a tropical storm on Friday, hours after it made landfall as a powerful hurricane in the southeastern US state of Florida, US meteorologists said.

   "Helene weakens to a tropical storm as it moves farther inland over Georgia," which neighbours Florida, the National Hurricane Center said in a bulletin.
