TBILISI, Oct 27, 2024 (BSS/AFP) - European Parliament observers said Sunday they had witnessed violations in Georgia's parliamentary elections won by the ruling party, saying the vote marked a democratic setback for the EU candidate.

"We express deep concern about the democratic backsliding in Georgia. The conduct of yesterday's election is unfortunately evidence to that effect," the observers said, noting that they had witnessed instances of "ballot box stuffing" and "physical assault" on observers.
