An-2 plane missing in Kamchatka located, survivors found - regional emergencies ministry 

PETROPAVLOVSK-KAMCHATSKY, Dec 22, 2024 (BSS/TASS) - The An-2 aircraft missing in Russia's Far Eastern Kamchatka Peninsula has been located with survivors onboard, regional Emergencies Minister Sergey Lebedev said on his VKontakte page.

"The plane was found. <...> Everyone is alive," Lebedev said.

According to the press service of the regional Emergencies Ministry, all three people onboard the plane survived the emergency landing and are currently being taken to a local hospital.

The missing were found near Tundrovaya Mountain about 5:00 a.m. Moscow time (2:00 a.m. GMT), Russia's Federal Air Transport Agency (Rosaviatsiya) said.

The search operation involved specialists from the search and rescue unit of the Center for Civil Defense, Emergencies and Fire Safety of the Kamchatka Region as well as two rescue helicopters.

An An-2 airplane carrying three people on board and commercial cargo vanished from radar in Kamchatka, Russia's Far East, on December 19. No contact was made with the aircraft at its scheduled landing time.
