VLADIVOSTOK, Dec. 28.2024 (BSS/Xinhua) -- A 6.3-magnitude earthquake struck off the southern Kuril Islands in the early hours of Saturday, Russia's RIA Novosti reported.
"The earthquake occurred ... with its epicenter located in the Sea of Okhotsk, 28 kilometers west of Simushir Island. The seismic focus was at a depth of 160 kilometers," Elena Semenova, head of the Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk seismic station, was quoted by RIA Novosti as saying.
She added that no tsunami warning has been issued.
