HAVANA, Dec 30, 2024 (BSS/AFP) - Cubans will remember Jimmy Carter "with gratitude," the island's leader Miguel Diaz-Canel said on Sunday, as condolences poured in for the former US president, who died at age 100.

During his 1977-1981 presidency, Carter made moves to normalize diplomatic ties and relax US sanctions on the country, and "our people will remember with gratitude his efforts to improve relations," Diaz-Canel said in a post on social media.
