KYIV, Ukraine, April 15, 2025 (BSS/AFP) - An elderly woman was killed in a "massive" overnight attack in the Russian city of Kursk, local authorities said Tuesday.
"Kursk was subjected to a massive enemy attack tonight," the Kursk regional government posted on Telegram.
"Unfortunately, an 85-year-old woman died."
Nine other people were treated for shrapnel wounds, burns and head injuries, it said.
Fires broke out at three apartment blocks across the city, it said, adding that residents were being evacuated.
Authorities had issued a missile and drone attack alert and asked residents to move away from windows, pro-Kremlin newspaper Izvestia reported.
The assault came as residents of the Ukrainian city of Sumy grieved the victims of one of the deadliest Russian attacks of the war.
Two missiles struck the centre of Sumy on Palm Sunday morning, killing at least 35 people and triggering outrage in Kyiv and among its allies.
