NEW DELHI, Oct 17, 2022 (BSS) - A four-day-long 90th General Assembly of
Interpol, the international criminal police organization, will begin here
tomorrow after a gap of about 25 years. It was last held in the country in
1997.
Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi will address the 90th Interpol General
Assembly tomorrow afternoon in Pragati Maidan, New Delhi, according to a
statement issued by Prime Minister's Office here today.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Interpol President Ahmed Naser Al Raisi and
Secretary General Jurgen Stock, CBI Director will also be present on the
occasion.
Delegations from 195 Interpol member states comprising ministers, heads of
national central bureaus and police chiefs of various countries, including
Bangladesh, among others, will attend the assembly.
Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun, Inspector General of Police (IGP), Bangladesh
will lead a four-member Bangladesh delegation to the assembly.
The IGP and other members of the delegation arrived here this evening to
attend the programme.
The police delegation of the 195 Interpol countries will discuss many crime-
related issues including the present global security aspect, inter-state
crime, terrorism, money laundering, organized crime, cyber security,
financial crime, pornography, women and children abuse, sources said.
After holding threadbare discussions on the issue, they will formulate a work
plan and implementation strategies in the assembly, sources added.
Apart from joining the assembly, sources said the IGP of Bangladesh police
will hold meetings with the CBI chief of India and police chiefs of different
countries.
