SANGSAD BHABAN, June 6, 2024 (BSS) - Finance Minister A H Mahmood Ali today
said a policy strategy will be adopted to promote research and innovation.

"A policy strategy will be adopted to promote research and innovation with
the assistance of Bangladeshi scientists, researchers or engineers working
abroad aiming at the development of the domestic industry," he said while
placing around Taka 7.97 lakh crore national budget for FY25 at Jatiya
Sangsad here this afternoon.

In his budget speech, Ali said, the "Skills for Industry Competitiveness and
Innovation Programme (SICIP)" is being implemented to facilitate the
development of skills, research and innovation capabilities of managers
engaged in the industrial sector including the enhancement of higher-level
technical skills.

Moreover, he said, it aims to promote green skills development to foster
sustainable growth in the industrial sector.

"Through this project, by 2028, a minimum of five Industry-Academia linkages
will be established for the higher-level technical skills programme and at
least 20 higher-level technical skills development courses will be
implemented based on industry demand," he added.
