DHAKA, Jan 18, 2023 (BSS) - Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader has strongly condemned and protested demolition of the inaugural plaque on Jihastala-Sheikher Char district highway (Zila Mohasarak) beginning from Dhaka-Sylhet highway under Narsingdi district.

In a statement today, Quader, also the road transport and bridges minister, said those who were involved in the vandalism of the plaque of the development programme must be brought to justice.

He said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina recently opened the Jihastala-Sheikher Char district highway under the 100 highways inauguration programme.

Quader also urged the countrymen to help the law enforcement agencies identifying and bringing those who carry out such destructive activities in the dark of night to book.

An identified anti-national and anti-development group is involved in such kind of evil plot, he said.

Due to this group's ill-efforts, the development and progress of the country are being disrupted frequently, he said, adding that if there had not such anti-national conspiracies by these evil forces the development and progress of the country would have been accelerated.

Quader said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has set a unique example before the world by inaugurating 100 highways in one day.

"It is a milestone achievement in the ongoing development and progress of Bangladesh under the leadership of worthy daughter of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman," he added.

"But it is very unfortunate that an evil-political force in this country cannot tolerate the development and prosperity," he said.

The evil-political force feels jealous and starts conspiracies as fortune of the people is being changed, Quader added.
