Those who deny Bangabandhu shouldn't have right to do politics: Hasan

DHAKA, Aug 15, 2021 (BSS) - Information and Broadcasting Minister
Dr Hasan Mahmud today said those who deny Bangabandhu should not have
the right to do politics in the country which became independent under
the leadership of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur
Rahman.

"The defeated evil forces of 1971 from home and abroad carried out
the brutal assassination (on August 15) for not only to unseat
Bangabandhu from the power, but also with an aim to foil the
independence and sovereignty of Bangladesh," he told a discussion at
an auditorium of Tathyo Bhaban on Circuit House Road in the capital.

Ministry of Information and Broadcasting organized the discussion
with its Secretary Md Mokbul Hossain in the chair.

Hasan said the incident on the fateful night of August 15 in 1975
was not only killing (incident), there was also a deep rooted evil
design behind the assassination.

The minister said trials of killers were completed. And, now it is
the time of demand to unmask the kingpins including Ziaur Rahman
behind the killing mission to present the real history before the next
generation, said Hasan, also Awami League joint general secretary.

Press Institute of Bangladesh (PIB) Director General (DG) Zafar
Wazed, Bangladesh Television (BTV) DG Sohrab Hossain, Bangladesh Betar
DG Ahmed Kamruzzaman, National Institute of Mass Communication DG
Shahin Islam and Department of Films and Publications DG SM Kibria,
among others, spoke.

Dr Shahdat Hossain Nipu and Tamanna Tithi recited poems in the
memory of Bangabandhu. Earlier, a documentary titled 'Chiranjeeb
Bangabandhu' was screened.

In the beginning, Hasan visited an exhibition on the life and works
of Bangabandhu.

Terming Bangabandhu as a poet of politics, Hasan said after the
March 7 speech of Bangabandhu, the Pakistani intelligence force wrote
in their report that 'in fact, clever Sheikh Mujib has declared the
independence of Bangladesh . . . we had nothing to do'.

He said the state of Bangladesh was established under the
leadership of Bangabandhu.

"Bangabandhu had awakened an unarmed and sleeping nation with the
motto of independence, otherwise, the nation couldn't have gained
independence. He (Bangabandhu) inspired thousands of people and they
joined in the Liberation War. For this, he (Bangabandhu) is the
greatest Bangalee of all time," Hasan added.

Mokbul paid rich tribute to Bangabandhu and said such killing
incident of August 15 is rare across the globe. But the killers of
Bangabandhu couldn't kill the dream of Bangabandhu, he added.

He said Bangladesh is moving ahead indomitably under the dynamic
leadership of Bangabandhu's daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Earlier in the morning, Hasan placed floral wreaths at the portrait
of Bangabandhu at Dhanmondi-32. The minister also paid rich tribute to
other martyrs at Banani graveyard in the city.

After placing tributes, he replied queries of journalists and said
BNP and their collaborators are busy in denying Bangabandhu and
conspiracies even after the 50 years of independence. Their politics
should be banned for the interest of sound politics.

In the evening, Hasan joined a doa mahfil organised by Awami League
religious affairs sub-committee for eternal peace of the departed soul
of Bangabandhu at National Mosque Baitul Mukarram.
