DHAKA, Sept 9, 2023 (BSS)- Information and Broadcasting Minister and Awami League (AL) Joint General Secretary Dr Hasan Mahmud today said BNP’s show off in the name of movement is over and now they have no mental and physical strength to fight.
“Being failed to wage movement, BNP has put their dependence on Dr Yunus. They put their dependence on different persons at different times. People would now wait to see when they go to their next guide,” he said.
The minister said this while addressing a ‘peace rally’ organised by AL North city unit at Town Hall premises in city’s Mohammadpur.
Dr. Hasan said BNP and its allies want to create anarchy across the country. They are trying to create a situation like 2013, 2014 and 2015.
“As the ruling party, we have a responsibility to stay beside the people, so that none can destabilize public life. So, we are orgainsing the peace rally,” he said clarifying the reasons of organizing the gathering.
The minister said, BNP leaders resorted to vandalism in December last in the name of organizing rally in from their Naya Paltan party office. Even they had given threat that the country would run after December 10, 2023 at the directives of Khaleda Zia, who was supposed to be in jail as a convict, but now staying in her Gulshan residence enjoying the generosity of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Police recovered bombs, huge number of water bottles and sacks of rice and pulses from BNP’s office, he noted, saying finally they shifted the venue of their rally at Golapbagh ground.
“From that time, BNP has been lobbying with foreigners and in every month they are saying that the tenure of Awami League government has been exhausted,” Hasan said.
The minister said, BNP completely failed to mobilize movement. But their conspiracy has not been ended. They are now busy to foil the election.
About the BNP’s secretary general’s apprehension of arrest, the minister said the government doesn’t want to arrest anybody unless he/she is involved in any criminal activities.
“If Mirza Fakhrul has any plan to carry out sabotage, attacks and crimes, then his apprehension is justified,” the minister said adding that if anybody plans to carry out sabotage, the law enforcers will sure take action against them.
He urged AL leaders and activists to remain alert against all conspiracies. Awami League will secure a landslide victory in the upcoming polls and Bangabandhu’s daughter Sheikh Hasina will be the Prime Minister for fourth consecutive times, he said.
Saying that Awami League is a political party originated from street, the minister said, the party would remain vigil on the street always as before.”
AL Office Secretary and prime minister’s special assistant Barrister Biplob Barua, AL North city unit president Sheikh Bazlur Rahman, vice president Sadeq Khan, MP, general secretary SM Mannan Kachi and organising Md Azizul Haque Rana, among others, addressed the rally as special guests.
