Upcoming elections won’t stop if anyone reluctant to join the polls: Quader 

DHAKA, Oct 18, 2023 (BSS)-Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader today said the upcoming parliamentary elections will not stop if anybody does not participate in it.

“The upcoming parliamentary elections will not stop if anybody does not take part in the polls as it will be held as per the constitution”, he said.

The ruling party leader told this to the journalists after paying tributes to Sheikh Rusell, youngest son of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, at his Banani graveyard this morning marking his 60th birth day.

Responding to a query, the senior ruling party leader said the next parliament elections will be held under the election commission, saying that so, it will not stop if anyone does not take part in the polls.

“There are many parties who will take part in the polls”, he said. “So why the elections would be unaccepted if a single party would not join the elections”, Quader asked.

Participation in the polls is a political rights and it is their own matter if anyone want to apply that rights, Quader noted.

Recalling all the bloodsheds including the jail killings on November 3, 1975, grenade attack on August 21, 2004, the road transport minister said the politics of killings and conspiracies which were launched by Khandoker Mustaque and General Ziaur Rahman after August 15 in 1975, targeting to eliminate the family of Bangabandhu and the ruling Awami League. 

Even their successors [BNP] still bearing the legacy of that heinous politics which was once introduced in the country, he pointed out.

Reiterating the commitment of wipe out the politics of killings and conspiracies, the senior AL leader said “Under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, our struggle will be continued unless the country would be freed from such evil activities”.

Earlier, the party general secretary along with other leaders placed floral wreaths on the mausoleum of Martyred Sheikh Russel .
 
Later, doa and munajat also was offered seeking the eternal peace of all the martyrs of August 15, 1975 including Sheikh Russel at the Banani mosque here. People of all spectra including the ruling party leaders and activists, among others, attended the function.
