Police to probe GD filed for threatening judge who sentenced Tarique-Zubaida

DHAKA, Oct 25, 2023 (BSS) - A Dhaka court today ordered police to probe a general diary filed over alleged death threats to a judge who sentenced BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman and his wife Zubaida Rahman to prison in a graft case.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Saddam Hossain passed the order, allowing a plea filed by the investigation officer of the case.

Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge Md Asaduzzaman received death threats in two letters along with pieces of shroud clothes on October 17. Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Court Nazir Shah Md Mamun filed the general diary (GD) in the Kotwali police station later in this regard.

The court on August 2, 2023, convicted and sentenced BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman to nine-year imprisonment and his wife Zubaida Rahman to three-year jail in a case filed for amassing illegal wealth of Taka 4.81 crore and concealing information about the wealth.
