Chhatra Dal leader arrested in police constable murder case of Oct 28

DHAKA, Nov 7, 2023 (BSS) – Police arrested a  central  leader of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) allegedly accused of murdering  police constable  Amirul Islam Parvez  in a clash between BNP men  and  law enforcers  during a rally in the capital  on October 28 last.

Joint Secretary  of JCD central committee Amanullah Aman  was arrested from Mohakhali area on Monday, said Md Asaduzzaman, chief of Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit while addressing a press conference at DMP media center here today.

Aman,  also the  former JCD’s Dhaka University unit general secretary,  is the prime suspect of the murder case. He led the attack on police in Fakirapool area, leaving Amirul dead.
Describing the attack, Asaduzzaman said a group led by Aman attacked police and threw brick chunks at them.

At one stage, Aman and others attacked the law enforcers and constable Amirul suffered head injuries when being hit by brick  chunks and he fell to the road, he said.

The attackers then beat him up mercilessly the injured constable lying on the road and they also used sharp weapons to ensure his death, Asaduzzaman said.

Police are trying to arrest Aman's accomplices, he said and added that the other accomplices of Aman have  already been  identified.

During the briefing, the CTTC official said there was a directive upon the JCD leaders and activist to break the morale strength  of police by creating an unstable environment on October 28.

In line with that directive, Aman along with a large group took up position with an intention of creating chaos, he further said.

Aman  also received instructions to attack police and kill them. That's why Amirul was brutally killed, the officials said.

The arrestee sent the picture to the high command after implementing the instructions, they said.

He also posted a picture on his Facebook with a stick after the murder, a CTTC official said. Even the followers of Amanullah Aman also have posted other encouraging remarks after the killing .
