COX’S BAZAR, Nov 11, 2023 (BSS) – Information and Broadcasting Minister and Awami League Joint General Secretary Dr Hasan Mahmud today said that the construction of rail line linking tourist city Cox’s Bazar and inauguration of the iconic rail station were beyond the expectation of the people of the country.

“Jananetri Sheikh Hasina had promised to expand rail line from Dohazari to Cox's Bazar. Today that promise has been fulfilled through commissioning of rail service on the route,” he said. 

Dr Hasan made the remarks onboard while travelling from Cox’s Bazar to Ramu by the train along with other dignitaries after inauguration of the 100 km rail line by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, said a press release.

Noting that people of the region never dreamed of such an 'iconic' railway station in Cox's Bazar, he said, “I studied in Europe, where we find very few such beautiful railway stations.”

“As an inhabitant of greater Chattogram, I invite everyone to come to Cox's Bazar by train,” Dr Hasan added.

Lawmaker from Chattogram-1 constituency Engineer Mosharraf Hossain was with the minister at that time.
