DHAKA, Dec 17, 2023 (BSS) - Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen will leave here for Kuwait tomorrow to convey deep condolence of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina over the death of Kuwait Emir Sheikh Nawaf al-Ahmad al-Sabah. 

The foreign minister will leave for Kuwait on Monday and return on the next day, December 19, a Foreign Ministry official told BSS today. 

Sheikh Nawaf, whose six-decade career in public service primarily focused on domestic issues, was buried today following a prayer service in Kuwait. 

The ruling emir of oil-rich Kuwait died on Saturday at the aged 86 after three years in power marked by repeated political disputes.

Following Sheikh Nawaf's death, his half-brother, Crown Prince Sheikh Meshaal al-Ahmad al-Jaber al-Sabah, 83, was swiftly named the new emir.
