PM sends condolence message over Kuwait Emir's demise 


DHAKA, Dec 17, 2023 (BSS) - Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has expressed deepest condolence to her Kuwaiti counterpart Sheikh Ahmad Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah on the demise of Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, the Emir of the State of Kuwait.


In a condolence letter, she wrote: "The brotherly People and the Government of Bangladesh join me in expressing our profound condolences and sorrow to the brotherly People of Kuwait and heartfelt sympathy for the bereaved members of the Royal family for the irreparable loss. I pray to Allah (SWT) to grant him the best place in the Jannah."


According to a press release issued today by the Prime Minister's Press Wing, Sheikh Hasina said, "Sheikh Nawaf was a committed, dynamic, and visionary leader of the global stature of our time." 


"He (the Emir) certainly left a legacy of dedication, sacrifice, and achievements for the world to pursue," she said, adding, "A grand champion of the cause of the Arab and Muslim Ummah, he was a trusted and generous friend of Bangladesh."


She said, "I recall with profound gratitude His Highness's immense contributions to the welfare of the Bangladeshi expatriate community living in Kuwait." 


"I also remember his enthusiasm and sincere efforts to advance Bangladesh-Kuwait bilateral relations," the premier continued.

She believed the late Emir will be remembered for his enduring humanitarian efforts and leadership in the Middle East and beyond.


The Bangladesh Prime Minister wished Kuwaiti Prime Minister good health, personal well-being, and happiness and the brotherly People of Kuwait continued peace, progress, and prosperity.


Sheikh Hasina looks forward to working together with Sheikh Ahmad Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah towards achieving strong collaboration for the mutual benefit of the two brotherly Peoples of Bangladesh and Kuwait.
