RANGPUR, Dec 25, 2023 (BSS) - Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will visit Pirganj tomorrow as part of her party's election campaign.

She will address an election rally at Pirganj Government High School ground at 3 pm.

During her visit, the Premier will meet her family members at her residence located at Laldighi Fatehpur in Pirganj and exchange greetings with relatives as well as offer ziarat at her husband's grave.
 
AL's Pirganj Upazila unit general secretary and municipal mayor Tajimul Islam Shamim said Prime Minister will arrive at Syedpur airport in the morning, and then she will attend a public rally for carrying out campaign for party candidate in Rangpur-2 Abul Kalam Md. Ahasanul Hoque Chowdhury at Taraganj.

Later, she will reach her village home at Laldighi Fatehpur, he said, adding the Premier will attend the public rally at the Pirganj School ground in the afternoon.

Shamim said that upazila Awami League has completed all preparations to welcome Sheikh Hasina and make the public meeting a success.

He hoped the public meeting will witness a massive gathering of people, including leaders and workers of the party from every corner of the district as well from nearby Gaibandha and Dinajpur other adjoining areas.

Earlier, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina addressed a public meeting at the same ground in Pirganj on December 22, 2018.
 
On December 31, 2013, she joined a street rally at Tarfmauza High School ground and a party's workers' meeting at Fatehpur Joysadan in Laldighi.
 
A festive mood is prevailing everywhere in Pirganj as well as the entire district marking the visit of the Prime Minister and the daughter-in-law of Pirganj.

An extended meeting led by AL organizing secretary Sujit Roy Nandi was held today to make Sheikh Hasina's public meeting in Pirganj a success.

While visiting the rally venue Pirganj Government High School ground this afternoon, Sujit Roy Nandi said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is the bride of Pirganj, Sajib Wazed Joy's fatherland is Pirganj.

Marking the Prime Minister's visit, there is a festive atmosphere in the entire Pirganj as tomorrow's rally will be a historic and a massive gathering.
 
Earlier, AL nominated Parliament Speaker and current MP Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury for Rangpur-6 (Pirganj) constituency again for the forthcoming 12th Jatiya Sangsad (JS) elections to be held on January 7.
 
In the previous general elections, AL candidate Shirin Sharmin won from the constituency with a huge margin.
 
Security measures have been strengthened for Sheikh Hasina's arrival as various intelligence agencies and security forces are continuing surveillance since Saturday night to ensure foolproof security.
 
Regarding the public meeting of the Prime Minister, Speaker Shirin Sharmin said on November 19, Sheikh Hasina told the leaders and workers of Pirganj over the phone that she would come to Pirganj and as per her assurance, so she is coming to address the rally.
 
All kinds of preparations are in place to make the rally a success as massive number of people will come here, she said.
 
She has made massive progress in the entire Rangpur division, including in the area of Prime Minister's in-law residence in Pirganj, the speaker said.
