DHAKA, Feb 1, 2024 (BSS)-Dhaka expected that the pending issue regarding signing of Teesta Water Sharing Agreement between Bangladesh and India would be discussed during the maiden bilateral Delhi visit of Foreign Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud to be held next week.
“During the upcoming (Delhi) visit, discussion will be held on overall all issues between Bangladesh and India.
We hope, Teesta Water Sharing Agreement will also be discussed (in Delhi),” said foreign ministry’s spokesperson Seheli Sabrin while replying to a question at the weekly briefing here today
Foreign Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud will visit India from February 7 to 9 as part of his first bilateral visit at the invitation of his Indian counterpart, Dr S Jaishankar.
During the visit, Sabrin said issues of mutual interest including trade, connectivity and energy cooperation and people-to-people connection will be discussed between the two sides to further strengthen Bangladesh-India relations.
Replying to another query, she said India’s Border Security Force (BSF) had officially regretted the recent border killing and expressed willingness to address the border issues through joint efforts.
BSF and Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) will also work together to prevent any such incident in the future, said the spokesperson.
