CUMILLA DAKSHIN, Feb 11, 2024 (BSS) - Five people were killed and two others
injured as a covered van crushed a CNG-run auto-rickshaw in Daudkandi upazila
in the district this morning.

The deceased were identified as Pijush Mondol, 28, hailed from Kalaghona
Dakshin Nagar village in the Upazila, Jahanara Begum, 35, Shafiullah, 24,
Monir, 35 and Ismail, 38.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Daudkandi Thana Md Mozammel Haque said the accident
occurred around 9 am in Mahananda area on Goirupur-Kachua Road.
Four people died on the spot while another one declared dead at Daudkandi
Upazila Health Complex, he added.

The injured were shifted to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital for better
treatment.

The bodies were kept at Daudkandi Upazila Health Complex morgue for post-
mortem, the OC said, adding: "Police seized the two vehicles from the spot."
