DHAKA, May 23, 2024 (BSS) - Killers cut Jhenaidah-4 lawmaker Anwarul Azim Anar's body into many pieces and later separated bone from flesh with a view to hiding his body, said chief of Detective Branch of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Mohammad Harun-or-Rashid.

He said this in a press briefing at DB Office in the capital.

Harun said the plan of the murder was designed two-three months ago in Dhaka. As they didn't succeed to kill Azim in Dhaka, the killers designed the plan to murder him in Kolkata.

"At first the killers cut Anwarul Azim Anar's body into many pieces and later separated bone from flesh. After giving turmeric power into the separated parts of the body, the killers then took them out of the flat in travel bags to different places," he said.

The DB chief said Akhtaruzzaman, one of the masterminds, of the murder has two residences in the capital Dhaka--one in Gulshan and other one in Basundhara area. The killers made the plan for long at Akhtaruzzaman's both residences, he said.

Replying to a question, Harun said the nickname of kingpin of the murder is Shaheen and his girlfriend's name if Shelesthi.

The name of the person who directly murdered Azim in Kolkata is Amanullah but it is not his real name, he said adding his real name is Shimul but he made a passport with the name Amanullah.

The DB chief said they are investigating into the incident as the three arrestees confessed their involvement with the murder during interrogation.
 
"We are exchanging information and keeping constant contact with Kolkata Police, Kolkata CID and STF," Harun added.
