DHAKA, July 24, 2024 (BSS) - Awami League (AL) General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader today said that all those involved in the violence would be brought to justice.
"Strict legal action will be taken against them who are involved in such hateful terrorism and arson attacks. To identify them, proper investigation will be carried out," he said while chairing a view-exchanging meeting held at Dhaka District unit of Awami League (AL) office in the city's Tejgaon area.
Mentioning that the incumbent AL-led government is committed to the people of the country, AL general secretary said no evil force will be spared, if they try to ruin this pledge.
Quader said BNP-Jamaat and their allies have planned to carry out the current destructions to stop the ongoing development spree and progress of the country.
Noting that a vested quarter wants to turn Bangladesh into a dysfunctional state, standing against the original spirit of the Great War of Liberation and independence, he said, "We cannot let this happen."
He warned all from BNP-Jamaat as the main objective of this clique is to put the country backward.
Talking about BNP-Jamaat's ill- activities and conspiracies, the road transport minister said that this anti-national force is spreading various rumors.
"They are engaging in tarnishing the image of Bangladesh before the international arena with false information," he said.
The veteran AL leader urged all to remain alert against them.
He also called upon everyone to work together aiming to resist BNP-Jamaat's evil conspiracies.
Awami League (AL) General Secretary Obaidul Quader said that the armed cadres of Chhatra Dal-Shibir under BNP-Jamaat have recently used the students' quota movement as a shield to carry out violence across the country.
They made the country hell through their barbaric destruction, he added.
The statement of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina about BNP is based on absolute and precise facts, he said.
He said the anarchic situation created by capitalizing on the students' movement and carrying out terrorism-violence is unprecedented in the history of Bangladesh.
The coordinators of students' movement have publicly stated that they have no connection with such heinous acts of terrorism and arson, he said, adding that they also did not take responsibility for it.
Highlighting the diabolical activities of BNP-Jamaat clique, Quader said they brutally killed many innocent people, including Awami League leaders and workers.
They carried out attacks on policemen and killed many members of the force, he added.
Noting that even these unprecedented brutal attacks did not spare journalists, he said they also attacked and torched various monuments, installments, buildings, establishments and hospitals, including building of Directorate General of Health Services.
They carried out their mayhem in several significant establishments which are symbol of Bangladesh's progress and prosperity such as Metrorail, Elevated Expressway, Mayor Hanif Flyover, Setu Bhaban and data center, Quader said, adding they did not spare Bangladesh Television Building, Disaster Management Directorate Building, BRTA, Narsingdi Jail and various police stations and police boxes.
Quader called on the leaders and workers from all levels of AL and its allied organizations to stand by the helpless, poor and distressed people with their utmost ability saying that due to the violence of BNP-Jamaat in recent times, the livelihood of the common people have come to a standstill.
In such a situation, Prime Minister and Awami League President Sheikh Hasina has called upon the party leaders and activists as well as the affluent people of the society to extend their hands to the poor and working people of the country, he continued.
Parliamentarians of Dhaka-4, Dhaka-5 and Dhaka-18 and local leaders of AL and its allied organizations attended the meeting.
