DHAKA, July 31, 2024 (BSS) - Social media platforms, including Facebook and WhatsApp, were unblocked this afternoon.
According to Internet Service Providers Association of Bangladesh (ISPAB), all social media platforms have been unblocked after 2pm today.
It may take 24 to 48 hours to resume full-fledged services, it said.
The social media platforms were unblocked hours after State Minister for Post, Telecommunication, and Information Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak disclosed the decision following a meeting with officials of the social media platforms at BTRC Bhaban.
TikTok officials physically joined the meeting at the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) Bhaban this morning while officials of Meta's platforms took part in the event virtually from Singapore.
After the meeting, Palak said these platforms will resume for facilitating the business of e-commerce and f-commerce sites.
