DHAKA, Aug 10, 2024 (BSS) - Chief Justice Obaidul Hassan has resigned, law adviser of the newly installed interim government Professor Asif Nazrul said here today.

   "Our Chief Justice has resigned few minutes ago. His resignation letter has already reached the law ministry. We will send it to the President without delay for taking necessary measures," the law, justice and parliamentary affairs adviser said in a video message on his Facebook post.

   Earlier in the morning Hasan told BSS that “in principle” he had decided to step down would submit his resignation letter to the President after completing some formalities.

   Lawyers including hundreds of protestors of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement have taken position at the SC premises since morning demanding the resignation of the judges of the Appellate Division including the chief justice.
