DHAKA, Aug 15, 2024 (BSS) - Police arrested former deputy speaker of the 12th Jatiya Sangsad Shamsul Huq Tuku, former state minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak and Dhaka University (DU) Chhatra League general secretary Tanvir Hasan Saikat conducting an overnight drive in city's Khilkhet Nikunja residential area.

"They were arrested during an overnight drive in the area responding to an intelligence report that they were hiding there," said Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Obaidur Rahman of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP).

Earlier, a case was filed against them with the Paltan police station.

Police also have arrested former law minister Anisul Huq and fallen ex-prime minister Sheikh Hasina's former private sector affairs adviser Salman F Rahman on Tuesday night.

DMP Commissioner Mainul Hasan said they were arrested from city's Sadarghat area.

These two AL leaders were shown arrested in a case filed with New Market Police station, he said.
