DHAKA, Aug 16, 2024 (BSS) - Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir today said they want to build a rainbow nation with the participation of people of all religions and thoughts.
He told journalists after a view-exchange meeting with the Hindus, Buddhists and the Christians at BNP Chairperson's Gulshan political office this evening.
"There are some terrorists who do not belong to any party. They cannot destroy the country's communal harmony by any means. We will build our desired rainbow nation with the participation of people of all religions and thoughts," said Mirza Fakhrul.
Bangladesh Hindu Buddhist Christian Unity Council General Secretary Rana Dasgupta said they presented the prevailing situation of the country's current crisis period.
"We want peace, comfort . .. we want to live. We want to place our statements through different political parties in a democratic way before those who are running the state," he said.
Bangladesh Puja Udjapan Parishad General Secretary and Dainik Kalbela Editor Santosh Sharma said they placed their demands and points to BNP and its secretary general assured them of considering their demands positively, if the party goes to power.
"From now on we will work together forgetting everything of the past," he said.
Leaders of different religions and communities joined the view-exchange meeting.
