Padma-Meghna rivers flowing below danger level in Chandpur

CHANDPUR, Aug 26, 2024 (BSS) - The rivers Padma and Meghna, were flowing below the danger level this morning, after days of flash floods that submerged vast tracts of the north- and south-eastern regions.

The basin of the rivers Padma and Meghna were flowing below the danger level at 0.65 meters at 10 this morning, Deputy Divisional Engineer of the Water Development Board of the district Atiqul Islam said.

The water level was 3.35 meters at 10am, at around 9 am it was 3.27 meters, at 8 am it was 2.99 meters and at 7 am the water level was 2.19 meters, at 6 am it was 2.23 meters, is still flowing below the danger level, he said.

However, the water pressure will increase slightly during the tide, he said. Maximum danger limit is 4 meters.
