DHAKA, Sept 5, 2024 (BSS) - The Anti-discrimination Student Movement today
brought out the 'Shaheedi March' across the country to honour the martyrs of
the student-people uprising, marking one-month of the fall of the autocratic
Awami League regime.
The central march started from the base of the Raju Memorial Sculpture on
Dhaka University campus at 3pm while thousands of students from different
educational institutions in the city joined the procession with much
enthusiasm.
The students were seen chanting slogans in favour of their victory that they
achieved through a bloody mass uprising, also dubbed as 'Red Revolution' or
'Bangla Basanta' on August 5 following the ousted of around 16-yearlong
fascist regime of Awami League.
After parading different streets in the city, including Manik Mia Avenue via
Nilkhet, Science Lab, and Kalabagan, Bijoy Sarani, Farmgate, Karwan Bazar and
Shahbagh, the procession ended coming at the same venue on Raju Sculpture
premises.
Later, a rally was held on the Raju Sculpture premises while different
leaders of the Anti-discrimination Student Movement addressed the rally.
Besides, the anti-discrimination student platform also held the 'Shaheedi
March' in district and upazila levels.
In Joypurhat, in line with the central 'Shaheedi March' programme, the Anti-
discrimination Student Movement brought out a procession from Shaheed Dr Abul
Kashem Ground at 4pm. After parading different streets in the town, the
procession ended reaching Central Mosque Square there.
Later, they held a short rally at the Central Mosque Square and vowed to
continue their movement until the country is reformed.
In Sirajganj, the anti-discrimination student platform brought out procession
and organized a discussion and doa mahfil.
They brought out the 'Shaheedi March' from Bazar Station Muktir Supan point
of the municipality town in the morning with the participation of students
from different educational institutions in the district.
After parading main streets of the town, it ended on the Shaheed Minar
premises where a short rally and a doa mahfil were held.
In Rangamati, the Anti-discrimination Student Movement brought a procession
and formed a human chain.
The leaders of the student platform brought out the procession from Rangamati
Municipality point around 11am with the participation of hundreds of students
from different educational institutions.
After parading different streets, it ended reaching in front of the Deputy
Commissioner (DC) Office following an hour-long human chain there.
Besides, another 'Shaheedi March' was brought out at the Rangamati Government
College while one-minute silence was observed there.
In Brahmanbaria, the Anti-discrimination Student Movement today brought out
procession and organized a discussion in the district.
The student platform brought out the procession from Tanker Par Ground of the
town with the participation of hundreds of students at 11am.
After parading different streets of the town, it ended reaching Brahmanbaria
Press Club. Earlier, a short rally was held at Tanker Par Ground.
In Lakshmipur, the Anti-discrimination Student Platform also brought out a
procession in the town at 3pm in line with the central 'Shaheedi March'
commemorating the martyrs of the student-people uprising and one-month of
collapse of autocratic Awami League government.
The procession was brought out from Bijoy Chattar of the town and it ended
reaching Shaheed Afnan Chattar (Uttar Temuhani) after parading different
streets in the town and Dhaka-Lakshmipur regional highway.
Earlier, a short rally was held at the Bijoy Chattar while hundreds of
students joined it.
In Mymensingh, the Anti-discrimination Student Movement observed the
'Shaheedi March' programme in the divisional headquarters to honour the
martyrs of student-people movement, marking the one month of the 'Red
Revolution' or 'Bangla Basanta'.
The students of different educational institutions brought out a mourning
procession from Town Hall intersection in the city this afternoon.
After parading different streets via Natun Bazar and Ganginarpar, the
procession ended reaching Shaheed Sagor Chattor in front of Women College in
the city.
The participating students observed one-minute silence and offered doa
seeking eternal peace of the departed souls of the martyrs.
In Pabna, the Anti-discrimination Student Movement brought out a procession
from Government Edward College at 11.30am, commemorating the martyrs of the
student-people movement to mark the one-month of collapse of the Awami League
government.
After parading different streets of the town, the procession ended reaching
at Zero Point Shaheed Chattar of Abdul Hamid Road while hundreds of students
joined the procession.
In Jashore, the anti-discrimination student platform today observed the
'Shaheedi March' programme in the district to honour the martyrs of student-
people movement, marking the one month of ouster of the autocratic Sheikh
Hasina government.
Hundreds of students under the banner of Anti-Discrimination Student Movement
brought out a procession from Jashore Press Club premises. After parading
different streets of the town, the procession ended reaching Central Shaheed
Minar in the district.
The students observed one-minute silence in the memories of the martyrs and
offered doa seeking eternal peace of the departed souls of the martyrs.
In Narail, the Anti-discrimination Student Movement observed the 'Shaheedi
March' programme in the district.
Hundreds of students under the banner of anti-discrimination student platform
brought out a procession from Narail Government Victoria College premises at
4pm. After parading different streets of the town, the procession ended
reaching in front of the Press Club.
In Meherpur, the anti-discrimination student platform also observed the
'Shaheedi March' programme in the district.
Hundreds of students under the banner Anti-discrimination Student Movement
brought out a procession from Dr Shaheed Shamsuzzoha Park at 11am. After
parading main streets of the town, it ended reaching the same venue.
