Jatiya Nagorik Committee formed to rebuild new Bangladesh

DHAKA, Sept 8, 2024 (BSS)- A new platform named Jatiya Nagorik Committee (JNC) has been formed aiming to rebuild Bangladesh upholding the spirit of student-people mass upsurge, steered by Anti-discrimination Student Movement.      

Name of 55 members has been declared in a meeting held in front of Central Shaheed Minar here today.

Muhammad Nasiruddin Patwari has been made the convenor of the committee while Akhtar Hossen is the member secretary and Samanta Sahrmin has been made spokesperson.

The committee has declared eight primary acts including taking necessary steps to bring the persons under book who were involved in brutal killing during the anti-discrimination movement, maintaining cooperation with interim government with the aim of reforming the state, uniting the countrymen, arranging dialogues between different professionals and expatriates. 

Patwari, in his speech, said the committee will work from different aspects ranging from making public-sensitive policy making to rebuild the country and abolishing the fascism from its roots. 

 “Bangladesh has achieved freedom from autocratic rules through the student-people anti-discrimination movement. There had been such upsurge before which went in vein destroying peoples’ expectations. But we cannot let this happen again”, he said.

He said the Jatiya Nagorik Committee will also be extended in all the cities, districts and upazilas levels gradually.
 
The committee will hold discussions and views exchange meeting with cross section people across the country in phases, he added.

The committee will work to eradicate the established fascist political system. The committee will work as pressure group in this regard.

The committee urged the countrymen remain alert against any sort of discrimination.
