DINAJPUR, Sept 13, 2024 (BSS) - Barapukuria Coal-Based Thermal Power Plant, having 525 megawatts capacity, has resumed its operation from one of its units after a three-day shutdown.

"The power plant, which completely shut down its production on September 9 due to failure of the electro hydraulic well pump, partially resumed its operation at 11:32 pm on Thursday," said Chief Engineer of the plant Md Abu Bakar Siddique.

"Currently, 70-75 MW is being supplied to the national grid as Unit-1 with a capacity of 125 MW partially resumed operation after repair works," he added.

He said the power plant will be able to go on full-fledged production within the next 15 days.

According to the plant details, although the plant has three units, power is usually generated by Unit 1 and Unit 3, while Unit 2 remains inactive for various reasons.

The chief engineer said unit-2 with a capacity of 125 MW has been closed since November 2020.
