BNP dialogue with advisers’ council Saturday

DHAKA, Oct 3, 2024 (BSS)- As new round of political dialogue of the interim government with political parties begins Saturday, Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) will join it on the first day, Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam said today.

“The dialogue between the council of advisers and political parties are beginning at 2: 30 pm on Saturday. On the first day, BNP will participate in it that I can say,” he told a press briefing here.

The press briefing was held at Foreign Service Academy to inform about the outcome of the meeting of the council of advisers held at Chief Adviser’s Office in Dhaka today.

Alam said, the dialogues will continue and all leading political parties will join the parley. 

About a report published in Daily Kalbela on alleged bribery of public administration secretary, Alam said the interim government is verifying the report.

Claiming that the government believes in the freedom of press, the press secretary said, a high-level committee involving senior journalists will be formed to this end.

“At the same time, we hope that you (journalists) will practice responsible journalism to help take forward the country,” he said.

 About the outcome of the meeting of the advisers’ council, Alam said the draft of Export Policy 2024-27 was approved today. 

“The goal of this policy is that we want to expand our export volume to US$ 110 billion by 2027,” he said.  

He said the meeting also approved in principal the draft of the Water Supply and Sewerage Authority (Amendment) Ordinance 2024.

About the ongoing unrest in RMG sector, the press secretary said the council of advisers today discussed elaborately the ongoing situation of the RMG sector.

Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus asked the advisers to take immediate steps to resolve the crisis, the press secretary said.

“You will see some good measures. We hope that the workers’ protest will come to end soon,” he added.

Referring to the six commissions formed by the interim government, for reform various sectors, Alam said, work on formation of five commissions is already completed and declaration in this regard will be given anytime. 

Formation of another commission will be finalized within a day or two, he said.
