Assistant Commissioner Taposhi suspended

DHAKA, Oct 8, 2024 (BSS) – The government has suspended assistant commissioner  and former executive magistrate of  Nilphamari Deputy Commissioner’s office  Begum Taposhi Tabassum Urmi on Monday.

A gazette notification signed by senior secretary of the Public Administration Ministry Dr M Mokhles Ur Rahman has been issued in this regard.

Begum Taposhi Tabassum Urmi, who is now attached to the Public Administration Ministry  as an assistant secretary (Officer on Special Duty or OSD),  made derogatory comments  criticizing a  statement delivered by the Chief Advisor of the Interim Government in her own facebook account on October 6, said the gazette.

Decision has been made to take departmental action as per the Government Servants (Discipline and Appeal) Rules, 1985 against her based on the allegation.

The order will come into effect immediately, said the notification.

The decision of suspension came against her following a widespread protest lodged by the agitated students demanding immediate action after the comments she made.

She has also termed martyr Abu Sayeed, who was killed during the anti-discrimination student movements, as a terrorist.

The general students also organized protest rallies in different educational institutes across the country against her.

Urmi also gave different status on behalf of the fascist Awami League government and against the movement of  common students under the banner of anti-discrimination movement in her facebook account.
