Home adviser urges all Hindu devotees to celebrate Puja spontaneously

DHAKA, Oct 9, 2024 (BSS) – Home Adviser Lieutenant General (Retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury today called upon all people of the country’s Hindu community to celebrate the Durga Puja spontaneously with enthusiasm and festivity  as the government took all-out security measures centering the festival.

“The Ministry of Home Affairs has taken different measures so that the Hindu devotees can celebrate the Puja peacefully without any hindrance,” he said.

The home adviser said this while speaking at a function organized by Baridhara DOHS Puja Committee at Baridhara DOHS Convention Centre in the city this evening on the occasion of the Maha Shasthi.

Jahangir said eight directives have already been sent to the field administration and law enforcement agencies while additionally members of police, RAB, and Ansar have been deployed for maintaining law and order during the Durga Puja.

Besides, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has been deployed in the frontiers while members of army, navy, and air force have been deployed with magistracy power to ensure security centering the Durga Puja.

Baridhara DOHS Puja Committee President Major General (Retd) Jibon Kanai Das presided over the event while Senior Vice President of Baridhara DOHS Council Lieutenant Colonel (Retd) Akram Hossain spoke as special guest.

Baridhara DOHS Puja Committee Vice President Lieutenant Colonel (Retd) Sri Chandra Kanta Das read out the greeting message while Vice President of the committee Brigadier General (Retd) Jayanta Kumar Sen delivered welcome address.
