Mirpur-10 metro station reopens

DHAKA, Oct 15, 2024 (BSS) – Mirpur-10 metro rail station resumed its operation today, almost 88 days after it was vandalized during the anti-discrimination student movement on July 19.

Managing Director of Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL) Mohammad Abdur Rouf confirmed it to the media.

Talking to newsmen at Mirpur-10 metro rail station, road transport and bridges adviser Fouzul Kabir Khan said Tk 1.25 crore has been spent to repair the Mirpur-10 metro rail station. The authorities replaced some damaged equipment here by unused ones from the other two stations, he added.

The equipment will be returned to the two stations, which the authorities brought from there, he said, adding that not only this, the metro authorities have used some spare parts to repair the Mirpur-10 station, the adviser added.

He said the total cost for repairing the Kazipara and Mirpur-10 metro rail stations is expected to reach approximately Tk 18.86 crore.

Earlier, Kazipara station that was also vandalized during July students-people uprising resumed operation on September 20 after repairing and replacement of equipment.

“The metro rail authorities will not seek any money to the government for repairing the Mirpur-10 station. The repair cost was met from the metro rail project,” he added.
