DHAKA, Oct 19, 2024 (BSS) - A court here today granted a three-day remand for former state minister for industries Kamal Ahmed Majumder, an ex-lawmaker of Dhaka-15 constituency.
He was remanded in a case filed with Shah Ali Police Station over killing a student of Jagannath University named Ekramul Haque during the anti-discrimination student movement.
Metropolitan Magistrate Ali Haider passed the order this morning as police produced him before the court with a seven-day remand prayer.
Ekramul was critically hurt by bullets when he was taking part in a protest rally in support of the anti-discrimination student movement in front of Shah Ali Mazar area on August 4 last.
He was rushed to Combined Military Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries on August 14.
Ekramul's father Ziaul Haque filed a murder case with Shah Ali Police Station in this regard.
Kafrul police arrested Kamal Majumder from a house at Gulshan around 12:30am last night, officer-in-Charge (OC) Golam Mostafa told BSS.
He was accused in several murder cases filed with Kafrul and other police stations after the fall of Awami League government on August 5 .
