DHAKA, Nov 6, 2024 (BSS) - Home Adviser Lt Gen (Retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury reiterated that no criminals would be spared.
"Government in no way will spare any criminal whatever powerful they are irrespective of their party affiliation," he said.
He was speaking to journalists at Secretariat here after coming out of a special meeting to review the law and order situation in Dhaka Metropolitan areas.
The home adviser asked the law enforcers to stop all kinds of extortions.
"Make sure that no extortion takes place anymore," he said.
Replying to a question about the agenda of the meeting, he also said they have discussed how the law and order in Dhaka could be improved further.
"Our law and order situation (in Dhaka) have improved a lot compared to the past. But, there is still a scope to improve it further," he said.
Referring to security measures taken for further development of the law and order situation in Mohammadpur area, he said they would replicate the Mohammadpur model in other areas.
"The situation of Mohammadpur is tolerable now. We have to work in other areas following the model," he said.
The home adviser asked all concerned to evict shops set on the roads and restrict battery driven rickshaws from plying the main city streets.
But, he cleared that he only asked to remove shops from the roads, but not from the footpaths while replying to a question.
Representatives from the army, police, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) were present at the meeting.
