Home adviser urges media to produce authentic news

CHATTOGRAM, Nov 19, 2024 (BSS) – Highlighting the reputation of the country’s media, home and agriculture affairs adviser Lt. Gen. (retd.) Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has called upon the country’s media outlets to produce authentic news to counter a section of foreign media’s false reports about Bangladesh.

He alleged that a section of media outlets abroad is spreading lies about Bangladesh for their own interest.

Requesting the country’s media outlets not to spread false news, Jahangir Alam Chowdhury said Bangladesh media has a good reputation for its constructive role.

The home affairs adviser came up with the comments while talking to journalists after exchanging views with law enforcement agencies at Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) Media Center in city’s Dampara this afternoon.

Urging journalists to point out mistakes, Jahangir Alam Chowdhury said, "It's not that we don't make mistakes. If we make mistakes, you will make us aware about it.

My request is, don't spread false news. Don't say anything about what has not happened.”

Stating that rumors are being spread about a ship coming from Pakistan recently, the home affairs advisor said, "This ship has come from the Middle East."

He said the ship came to Bangladesh from the Middle East via another country.

IGP Mainul Islam, DG of RAB Additional IGP AKM Shahidur Rahman and among others senior officials of various law enforcement agencies were present on the occassion.
