DHAKA, Nov 20, 2024 (BSS) - The 60th birthday of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman is today.
BNP leaders and workers didn't celebrate his birthday following the directives of Tarique Rahman. But they extended wishes and greetings to the acting chairman in social media posts.
In their posts, they also highlighted Tarique Rahman's leadership quality and his continuous struggle for establishing democracy in the country.
Tarique Rahman, eldest son of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman and former three-time Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia, was born on November 20, 1965.
Tarique was involved in politics since young age and rose to prominence in BNP during his mother Begum Khaleda Zia's tenure as prime minister in the early 2000s.
Since the country's political changeover of 1/11, Tarique Rahman had to face various hurdles.
He has been in long exile as repression and suppression launched on him by the ousted fascist Awami League regime.
Tarique Rahman has been leading the party in exile and under his dynamic leadership BNP reached a unique height.
