BNP starts talks with allies on overall political context  

DHAKA, Dec 21, 2024 (BSS) - Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has started meeting with its political allies on the overall political context.

As part of this, the party held a meeting with 12-party alliance, Jatiyatabadi Somomona Jote and Bangladesh Labor Party at the BNP Chairperson’s Gulshan office in the capital on the first day today.

According to BNP office, the party will hold a series of meetings with its allies to determine next steps after reviewing the current political and economic situation of the country and decision will be announced later.

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Standing Committee members Nazrul Islam Khan and Selima Rahman, Vice-Chairman Abdul Awal Mintoo were present at the meeting with the 12-party alliance at 4pm.

After the meeting, BNP Standing Committee member Nazrul Islam Khan told reporters that they have exchanged views on the current political situation of the country, the economic situation and various problems of the people.

BNP had worked together against fascism with these allies and parties, he said, adding, if any decision is taken after the series of meetings with the political alliances and parties involved in the anti-fascist movement, it will be informed the media later.

Jatiya Party (Kazi Zafar) Chairman Mustafa Jamal Haider, also coordinator of the 12-party alliance, said they discussed among themselves about what will be their programme in the future in the context of the current situation in the country. 

But any final decision has not been taken yet, he said.

After the meeting with the 12-party alliance, the BNP held separate meetings with the Jatiyatabadi Somomona Jote and the Labor Party. 

Jatiyatabadi Somomona Jote coordinator and National People’s Party (NPP) leader Fariduzzaman Farhad led the alliance in the meeting while Labor Party was led by its Chairman Mustafizur Rahman Iran.
