DHAKA, Dec 26, 2024 (BSS) - Home Advisor Major General (retd) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury and Housing and Public Works Adviser Adilur Rahman Khan today visited fire-damaged building at Secretariat in the city.

High officials including Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser (CA) Khoda Baksh Chowdhury, Public Works Secretary M Hamidur Rahman Khan and Labour Secretary AHM Shafiquzzaman were present, among others.

After receiving the news of fire at Bhaban no-7 at 1.52am on Thursday, a 
total of 18 fire fighting units rushed to the spot at 1.54am and brought the fire under control at 8.05am.

A member of a fire fighting unit suddenly died after being struck by a truck as he was trying to cross the road in front of the fire-affected building at the Secretariat.

The fire damaged building also has the location of different public offices including Internal Resources Division (IRD), Financial Institutions Division(FID), Post and Telecommunications and Information Technology, Labour and Employment, Youth and Sports, Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives and Road Transport and Bridges Division.
