BNP chief Khaleda Zia leaves Firoza residence for airport, photo : BSS

DHAKA, Jan 7, 2025 (BSS) - BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia has left her Gulshan residence Firoza for Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport here to board a special air ambulance scheduled to leave Dhaka for London at 10pm today.

Her motorcade left Firoza at 8:15pm but could not cross Gulshan-2 intersection due to the crowd of party leaders and activists until 9pm. Thousands of people waved goodbye to her on both sides of  the street.

The BNP chairperson will leave for London’s Heathrow International Airport by a special air ambulance sent by Qatar’s Emir.

Meanwhile, BNP leaders and activists started gathering in front of Firoza since the afternoon. They kept chanting slogans in the names of Khaleda Zia and Tarique Rahman.

At 6:15 pm, the party's Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir entered Khaleda Zia's residence Firoza. 

At that time, he told the leaders and activists in front of the gate, "You should stand on the sidewalk in an orderly manner. Keep the road free". 

Fakhrul left Firoza at 6:30 pm.

Khaleda Zia will meet her eldest son Tarique Rahman in London after almost seven and a half years. BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman and his wife Dr Zubaida Rahman will receive her at the London airport.  London BNP leaders and activities will also be there.
