DHAKA, Feb 04, 2025 (BSS) – Chairman of the Public Administration Reform Commission Abdul Muyeed Chowdhury today said the commission will submit its report to the Chief Adviser tomorrow.

Talking to journalists at secretariat, he said there were over hundred of recommendations in the report, which are possible to implement.

“If those (recommendations) are impossible to implement, then we would not recommend. The government will now understand whether the recommendations will be possible to implement or not,” he said.

Chowdhury said the commission’s report will be submitted to the Chief Adviser around 12:30pm tomorrow (Wednesday).

Mentioning that the commission was supposed to submit its report last month, but it was not possible due to field level work.

“We have visited different districts and upazilas and talked to people. We have taken opinions through online. Based on this information, we will finalize and sign the report today,” he said. 

The commission chairman said, “We will go to the office of the Chief Adviser and hand over the report to him. At the same time, the Law Commission will also submit their report tomorrow.”

The commission chairman declined to disclose details of the recommendations but said that they included over 100 recommendations in the report.

Ministry of Public Administration Senior Secretary Md Mokhlesur Rahman said the report will become a public document after submission.

He said the report will also be available online.

The Public Administration Reform Commission was formed on October 3 with eight members, led by Abdul Muyeed Chowdhury, a former adviser to a caretaker government.

Later, the number of members was increased by three more. The commission was formed to create a people-oriented, accountable, efficient and impartial public administration system.

It was initially given a 90-day deadline to submit the report to the chief adviser.

However, the tenure was extended thrice with a final deadline set for February 15. But since the work was completed the commission is submitting the report earlier.

Other members of the commission are former secretaries Mohammad Tarek and Mohammad Ayub Miah, Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Public Administration Md Mokhles Ur Rahman, former Additional Secretary Md Hafizur Rahman, former Joint Secretary Rizwan Khair, former Chairman of the Department of Public Administration of Dhaka University Professor AKM Firoz Ahmed, retired health cadre officer Professor Dr Syeda Shahina Sobhan, retired officer of the Audit and Accounts cadre Firoz Ahmed, retired officer of the Customs and Excise cadre Khondaker Mohammad Aminur Rahman and student representative Mehedi Hasan of Jagannath University.
