Any law enforcer's negligence during drive won't be tolerated: Jahangir

DHAKA, Feb 25, 2025 (BSS) - Home Adviser Lt Gen (Retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury today warned that any sort of negligence by any law enforcers during anti-crime drive will not be tolerated.

He issued this warning while talking to media after laying wreaths at the graves of martyred army officers in Pilkhana carnage at Banani Military Graveyard on National Martyred Army Day.

Replying to a query regarding special operation that began after Monday evening, the home adviser said, "You can evaluate the success and failure of the operation."

"No one will be spared here, whether they are the members of police, BGB, RAB, Ansar or the prison department. If anyone from these forces is negligent, he will be brought under the law. No one will be spared," he warned.

Jahangir, however, requested the media to publish real news and see whether the government takes action or not.

In this connection, he referred to the steps taken by the government recently against two SPs on the basis of news published in media, saying "We will definitely take action based on the true news."

Mentioning that this time the Pilkhana massacre is being remembered exceptionally, the home adviser said, "This year the day has been declared as National Martyred Army Day and we have come here on that occasion."

He said that a commission formed to reinvestigate the 2009 Pilkhana massacre started working on January 24, adding they will submit a report within three months, based on which the culprits will be brought to justice.

Earlier, representatives of the President and the Chief Adviser, the Chiefs of the three services and relatives of martyrs laid wreaths at the graves of the martyred army officers in the 2009 Pilkhana massacre.
